# Maple Score

Every pool on Maple.fun gets a **Maple Score**, which is a safety rating from **0 to 99** that helps you quickly judge how trustworthy a pool is before you put any money in.

Think of it like a health inspection grade for a restaurant. The higher the number, the safer the pool looks.

### How to Read the Score

Each score comes with a color so you can spot good and risky pools at a glance:

| Score | Color | What It Means |
| ----- | --------------- | ------------------------------------------- |
| 90–99 | 🟢 Dark Green | Excellent, strong safety across the board |
| 80–89 | 🟢 Green | Very good, minor areas to watch |
| 70–79 | 🟢 Lime | Good, solid fundamentals |
| 60–69 | 🟡 Yellow-Green | Decent, some trade-offs |
| 50–59 | 🟡 Yellow | Average, proceed with caution |
| 40–49 | 🟠 Amber | Below average, review the details carefully |
| 30–39 | 🟠 Orange | Weak, multiple concerns |
| 20–29 | 🟠 Dark Orange | Poor, significant red flags |
| 10–19 | 🔴 Red | Very risky, approach with extreme caution |
| 0–9 | 🔴 Light Red | Dangerous, serious safety issues detected |

A score above **70** generally means the pool has healthy fundamentals. Below **40**, you should look very carefully at what's going on before depositing.

### What Goes Into the Score?

The Maple Score looks at **5 categories**, each weighted by how important it is to your safety.

#### 1. Safety Parameters (38% of the score)

This is the biggest chunk because it directly measures how well the pool is set up to protect your funds.

The **bootstrap lock** tells you how long the pool must run before anyone can pull funds out. Longer is safer, and anything under 3 days is a red flag.

The score also checks the **max deposit percentage**, which limits how much one person can dump into the pool. If this is above 70%, a single depositor could dominate everything. Finally, the **fast exit rules** look at whether there's a real penalty for leaving early. Pools with weak exit penalties (under 1%) or very short exit windows (under 1 day) score lower here.

#### 2. Behavior (22% of the score)

This looks at whether the pool is actually alive and active, or sitting there collecting dust.

**Pool age** matters because older pools (30+ days) have a track record. Brand-new pools under 3 days old get flagged since there's simply not enough history to judge them. **Transaction activity** tells you whether people are actually using the pool. Around 40 or more transactions per week is a healthy sign, while zero activity is an obvious red flag. The score also checks for **recent activity**, meaning something should have happened in the last 24 hours. Pools that have been idle for more than 72 hours get flagged as potentially abandoned.

#### 3. Decentralization (20% of the score)

This measures whether the pool is spread across many participants or controlled by one big wallet.

The ideal is 50 or more participants. Three or fewer is a red flag because the pool is way too concentrated. The score also looks at **whale concentration**, which is how much the biggest single wallet holds. If one wallet controls more than 50% of the pool, that's a warning sign. Above 70%, the score takes an extra penalty hit.

#### 4. Fees (10% of the score)

Pretty simple here: lower fees are better for you.

A deposit fee above 2% gets flagged. Same for withdrawal fees above 2%. Project fees (what the pool creator takes) get flagged above 1%. These thresholds exist because fees beyond these levels start eating into your returns in a meaningful way.

#### 5. Size (10% of the score)

Bigger pools with more participants tend to be more stable and harder to manipulate.

The **Pool Balance** is measured on a curve, so going from $1k to $10k matters more than going from $90k to $100k. Participant count is also factored in here, same as in the Decentralization category, because more people generally means a healthier pool.

### How the Final Score Is Calculated

Each category produces a score between 0 and 1. These are combined using the weights above (38%, 22%, 20%, 10%, 10%) and then multiplied by 99 to give you the final number.

In plain terms: safety matters most at 38%, followed by how active and decentralized the pool is (22% + 20%). Fees and size are important but secondary at 10% each.

### What the Maple Score Is *Not*

A high score means the pool *looks* healthy based on measurable data, but it is **not a guarantee**. It does not promise future performance or safety.

It is also **not financial advice**. Always do your own research before depositing into any pool.

And it's **not permanent**. Scores are calculated in real time, so a pool's score can go up or down as conditions change.

### Red Flags at a Glance

Here's a quick cheat sheet of warning signs the Maple Score watches for:

| Red Flag | Why It Matters |
| --------------------------------- | --------------------------------------- |
| Bootstrap lock under 3 days | Pool creator could rug quickly |
| Reserve ratio under 10% | Very little safety buffer |
| Loss cap above 20% | You could lose a big chunk |
| Cooldown under 1 day | No friction to prevent bank runs |
| Max deposit above 70% | One person can dominate the pool |
| Fast exit penalty under 1% | No cost to dump and run |
| Pool age under 3 days | Too new to evaluate properly |
| Zero transactions in 7 days | Nobody is using it |
| Idle over 72 hours | Pool may be abandoned |
| 3 or fewer participants | Extremely concentrated |
| Top wallet holds 50%+ | One whale controls the pool |
| Deposit or withdrawal fee over 2% | Unusually high fees eating your returns |
| Project fee over 1% | Heavy take by the pool creator |
